FAQ

What is IBEx?

Web3 infrastructure provider that simplifies blockchain integration for businesses. It offers turn-key solutions for Web3 login, contract (smart wallet) accounts, legal tender services, token issuance, fees management and more, allowing you to focus on your core business while IBEx handles the technical complexities of blockchain technology.

Technical Setup

What is a Web3 login and what are its advantages?

Web3 login uses passkeys instead of traditional password-based authentication. Advantages include: (1) Enhanced security as account access is not based on login/password/2FA, (2) Self-managed security by the user without involving third parties, (3) Passkeys are stored at OS level (Android, iCloud, Windows Hello) but encrypted and only accessible to the user.

How do contract accounts work?

Contract Accounts (CA) function like programmable vaults. Unlike traditional Externally Owned Accounts (EOA), CAs don't have private keys but offer programmability. IBEx implements ERC-4337, a proposal by Vitalik Buterin that introduces account abstraction without modifying the consensus layer, using components like UserOperation, EntryPoint, Bundler, and Paymaster.

Why do I need a domain name?

Your users' passkeys will be associated with your domain name in iCloud or Android password managers.

What happens if I want to stop using IBEX?
  • passkeys are on your domain (not controlled by IBEX),

  • user wallets are hosted on a decentralized blockchain (not controlled by IBEX),

  • if you have issued assets they are also hosted on a decentralized blockchain (not controlled by IBEX).

What are the risks for my users' funds?

IBEX uses technologies that are already massively deployed, but this does not mean that there is no risk, and our technical team is constantly on the lookout for alerts:

  • passkeys: FIDO consortium and Apple, Google, Microsoft implementations already deployed on Gmail, Youtube, Outlook/Hotmail, Github, etc.

  • wallets: utilisation de Safe qui équipe déjà une très grande partie du marché (40M de wallets cumulés déployés à date de Q1/2025),

  • tokens: smartcontract using off-the-shelf libraries.

There are also risks they won't have:

  • self-holding: sovereign custody avoids centralized exchange problems (FTX, Bybit),

  • passwordless authentication: no risk of hacking his account by compromising his password,

  • abrupt regulatory change: self-hoarding crosses borders.

Token & Business setup

Are our business models compatible?

IBEX is a decentralized network with a blockchain business model that pays per transaction, not per % of the value in transit (like Bitcoin or Ethereum's networks).

What is the IBX token?

The IBX token is the native utility token of the IBEx ecosystem. It serves as both a payment token for services within the network and a governance token that allows holders to participate in decision-making processes.

How can I acquire IBX tokens?

IBX tokens can be acquired through various methods, including purchasing on supported exchanges, earning through participation in the ecosystem, or receiving as rewards for contributing to the network's growth and security.

What are the use cases for IBX tokens?

IBX tokens have multiple use cases within the ecosystem, including paying for transaction fees, participating in governance voting, staking for rewards, and accessing premium features and services offered by IBEx.

What is the Gas Tracker?

The Gas Tracker is a tool that monitors and displays real-time gas prices on the network. It helps users estimate transaction costs and choose the optimal time to execute transactions to minimize fees.

How does the Paymaster system work with gas fees?

A Paymaster is a component that pays gas fees on behalf of users. IBEx has its own Paymaster, making it independent and maximizing security for users and their assets. The Paymaster takes responsibility for fully paying the gas fees to validate UserOperations, eliminating the need for users to hold native tokens for transaction fees.

How can I optimize my transaction costs?

You can optimize transaction costs by monitoring the Gas Tracker for periods of lower network congestion, batching multiple transactions together when possible, and utilizing the Paymaster service for sponsored transactions.

Governance

How does governance work in IBEx ?

Governance in IBEx is managed through a decentralized voting system where IBX token holders can propose and vote on changes to the protocol. This includes parameter adjustments, feature additions, and resource allocations.

How can I participate in governance decisions?

To participate in governance, you need to hold IBX tokens. You can then create proposals or vote on existing ones through the governance portal. Each token represents one vote, giving larger stakeholders more influence in the decision-making process.

What types of proposals can be submitted?

Proposals can cover a wide range of topics, including protocol upgrades, parameter changes, treasury fund allocations, and strategic partnerships. All proposals go through a discussion period before being put to a vote.

What is IBEx Safe?

IBEx Safe is a secure solution for managing private data. It allows users to complete KYC/KYB processes, obtain an IBAN from a banking partner, access CB or VISA cards, and make secure online payments within IBEx services, all protected by passkey technology.

How does IBEx handle private keys?

IBEx offers multiple options for private key management. With passkeys, the private key is managed securely at the OS level. Alternatively, IBEx supports classical private keys with options for social recovery (splitting the key between you and the user) or a guardian service (multi-sig wallet) through IBEx Safe.

What are the limitations of passkeys?

While passkeys offer significant advantages, there are some limitations. These include compatibility issues with Windows 10 and hardware with older CPUs. For users facing these limitations, IBEx offers alternative solutions using classical private keys.

How does IBEx Safe protect my personal data?

IBEx Safe uses end-to-end encryption and passkey technology to ensure your personal data remains private. Your information is only accessible to you through your biometric authentication or device security, eliminating the risk of password theft or unauthorized access.

Tokenization

What is asset tokenization?

Asset tokenization is the process of converting rights to an asset into a digital token on a blockchain. IBEx Protocol uses the Radao protocol to create Asset Backed Tokens that are backed 1:1 by real-world assets, allowing for fractional ownership and easier trading.

How does IBEx handle tokenization?

IBEx leverages the Radao protocol to provide a seamless tokenization experience. This includes on/off ramps to real-world stock markets, 1:1 backing of tokens with underlying assets, liquid staking options, and aggregated liquidity across traditional and decentralized markets.

What types of assets can be tokenized?

Through the Radao protocol, various assets can be tokenized, including stocks, real estate, art, and other financial instruments. Each tokenized asset is represented as an Asset Backed Token that is backed by the corresponding real-world asset.

What are the benefits of tokenizing assets?

Tokenization offers numerous benefits, including increased liquidity, fractional ownership possibilities, reduced settlement times, lower transaction costs, and broader market access. It also enables new investment strategies by combining traditional finance with DeFi capabilities.
